Mice Update

Here is what's happened to the mice recently:
Inky had three babies, the all died at Baimon's house!!!!  Born too early.
Oats had three babies; two of the got murdered by Inky!!! Something to do with Flip going into their house.
Flip died!!! Someone just found him dead!
The last baby is all grown up and is a girl called Pilf (Flip backwards) in honour of our fluffy friend. Pilf is long haired, brown and white, like Flip.
So that's what's happened!

HALLOWEEN

On Sunday it was Halloween!!!
I went trick or treating with my friends Stella and Gracie. We dressed up as a horse and a witch and this is how we organised and made our costume.
First we made a horse's head out of a paper bag, part of a box and a bit of cardboard. We had paper eyes, nostrils and ears and a mane made from a rubbish bag. Then we got a sheet from an op shop, cut a hole in one end and stapled on a tail similar to the mane. It would work with two people and a rider (the witch) but when we tried riding it didn't work as well as we thought it would so we decided to just have a witch leading the horse so we attached a rope to the horse's head.
We decided to rotate around at being the front and back of the horse and the witch. We all wore black and we had a bag, a cobweb shawl and a witch's hat so that when it was your turn to be the witch we would put on these. We'd change over every street and share a bag for lollies.
We started going to houses that we knew but then we went to random houses as well.
We got loads of lollies and had a brilliant time!!!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN FOR SUNDAY!!!

Tree Planting

Yesterday we went tree planting near the Brook Sanctuary. It was so much fun!
We drove there and I was in Rohan T's car with Hamish and him. I got to sit in the front though!
When we got there the Nelmac people told us what to do, then we got into pairs and no surprise; I was with Stella. I think we planted 11 plants in total!
A few of the plants were kowhai, flax, wine berry and totara!
First we had to dig a hole of an estimated size to fit the plant. Then we slipped the plant in with the grow bag still on to see whether it would fit; if it didn't then we would dig more, but if it did then we would take off the grow bag and place the plant in the hole. Next we'd pack the dirt that came out of the hole and stamp around the plant.
Stella and I made up a system where we took turns in being the planter and the digger. The digger dug the hole and helped with the packing in the dirt. The planter chose which tree to plant next and pulled it out of the grow bag and did most of the packing of dirt. But the system fell out near the end so we just did whatever.
It got really tiring near the end though and we couldn't find any more trees to plant.
But I sure did have fun!!!

My Birthday

It was my birthday yesterday!
When I woke up I forgot it was my birthday and lay in bed thinking that it was going to be just another boring day.
As soon as I walked into the classroom that morning Leo (whose desk is closest to the door) immediately started singing happy birthday, soon the whole class had joined in and as they were singing I looked at the boards and plastered all the way across both were signs saying 'Happy Birthday Georgie' and 'We love you Gege'. Soon I was laughing my head off.
Immediately someone asked me what I got but I was having my presents this afternoon.
When I got home I opened my presents. From Mum I got a book called 'Just Between Friends'. It has lots of different codes that you can talk to your friends in.
From Dad I got a mask and snorkel, and from Ellie I got a Smiggle voucher.
That night my cousins Bryony and Keller and my aunt Janis came for dinner. We had Mexican and pavlova!
For my present they gave me a book on how to draw fairies. Bryony has one too.
I really enjoyed my 11th birthday and I can't wait for my party!

Winter Tournament

We have to write about the winter tournament using the 6 De Bono hats.
White hat:
The day before yesterday was the winter tournament!
The choices of sports were: hockey, netball, soccer, mini ball, volleyball and table tennis. I played netball. Our team was Ella, Hannah, Joey, Kezia, Isi, Evie, Stella, Gracie, Ruby and I.
Yellow hat:
We won every game we played! The first game we played was 12-nil to us!
Red hat:
I had so much fun!!! But I'm going to play netball at the next winter tournament, and the next, and the next, and the next, and the next, and the next...
Green hat:
I think maybe next time we should have less people on our team so that less people have to sub off which means we could get to play more.
Black hat:
I got a bit confused about the rules since I'm not a proper player.
Some of the teams were hard to beat.
Blue hat:
We won all our games and it was so fun!

Mathletics

We are allowed a trial run for Mathletics for a week! It officially starts next week but we're on it already. I haven't actually had a chance to try it yet but I will as soon as I finish this post.
I like Matheletics because you can design your own portrait to play by and you can buy new stuff with the points that you earn by doing maths tests.
I also like the way that the tests are  all international. You can play people from all over the world!
Matheletics is cool because it has lots of different types of tests that you can do and there are tricks to getting lots of points.
I'm going to finish up now so that I can go on it. You should check it out for yourself!!
Bye! :)

Mice

Today in class we voted for a person to go and get the mice from Nature Land with Dave at lunch time. Stella won.
When we were playing 4 square at lunch time today I saw Stella coming back with a mouse cage in her hand. I rushed into the classroom to see the mice. There were two females and one male. The male is long haired and has creamy brown splotches on his white coat. His name is Flip.
The short haired brown female is called Oats. The other female (my personal favourite) is called Inky. She is long haired and has dark grey blotches on her back, sides and base of her tail. She has white fur.
We mucked around with the mice a bit at first since the bell hadn't rung and one ran up Hannah's sleeve! Once the bell rang we swiftly placed the mice in their cage before the shouting stampede of rampaging children came hurtling through the door. The race to wash hands again.
Dave told us to form a circle on the mat and Stella brought the mice to the mat one by one for us to pass around. I didn't get a go with the short haired brown female though. :(  They were so sweet the way the scampered over your hands, up your arms and onto your neck.
Then we put the mice back and had the vote for the names. We decided on Flip, Oats and Inky.

I hope I'm not allergic to mice.
